The Doctor says he has all the markings of a little boy....
That is how Jeb's Doctor put it. He had is wellness checkup (thank God for insurance! this is his first well visist since he was born)
The Doctor examined his ears and eyes and stomach.....and as she was doing so Jeb was throwing the pen, thumping his head against the wall- and saying OWwhhh, trying to reach Grammas keys, wanting off the counter, trying to hold the stethascope.....All the Doctor could say was he is ALL BOY. I am sure she could examine the - scratch on his cheek, the dried blood in his nose from a fall, the pink scratch across the nose from the fall, the two pavement scruff marks on his knees, the red mark on his neck from the fall in the waiting area, the orange cheese stain in his ear from the cheeto he tried to poke down in it.....
BUT he is HEALTHY and that is what matters.
At 17 months he weighs 27lbs and 12oz, he's 34 inches tall, he is in the 90% for weight and 95% for height, and If I am reading this note right his head is 51 cm! (I wonder if that is right--although he does have a big head) Every morning he complains because the shirts get stuck!
The Dr. said if he keeps this up he will be around 6'2".
He also got 4 shots...now that was fun. The nurse told me to lay him down and hold him still. (ha)
Well I gave him a pacifier, and held him down. The nurse had all four needles ready for action.
Needle #1- Huge yell from Jeb.....Needle #2- now a bigger scream, mouth is wide open and tears are fallings- Needle #3- this nurse is quick! this wont take long, Needle #4- Jeb has had enough- he throws the pacifier and reaches down with his right hand and yanks the needle. the nurse is holding his leg and the needle- so she cant let go, I grab Jebs hand and TRY to hold it steady- he has already pulled the needle half way out, but the nurse puts it back in.....I pry the fingers off as steadily as possible- Jeb's grip is strong.....
Well we undo his hand, and he is done. It felt like it lasted for 10 minutes. It was probably only 10 seconds, but the fear in Jebs eyes and the fear in the nurses eyes when he grabbed that needle will not be forgotten
We get to go back in thirty days for four more shots....any volunteers?
